Restoring Timber Garden Furniture Coatings.
Most Timber Garden Furniture coatings are coated with either Wood Oils or an inferior D.I.Y woodstain from new that do not quite do what it says on the Tin.
As time goes by, these inferior coatings wear off, thus your expensive garden furniture will be exposed to UV Radiation, Freezing Temperatures, High Moisture Saturations and Airborne Pollution etc. these weather elements will cause the coatings to erode if not attended to promptly.
Before you can restore your Garden Furniture coatings, it is very important to first identify the furniture’s existing degrading finish to determine the correct way to remove it.
Some degrading Wood Oils and D.I.Y. Woodstains will simply “Pressure Wash” off the surface, others are a little more stubborn and may need mechanical or hand sanding with the appropriate grade Abrasive Paper or a mild Chemical Strip with the added assistance of a “Pressure Washer” that should do the job.
Remmers OW-815 Special Waterborne Water Repelling Coating.
Remmers Coatings Germany have developed a product called OW-815 a Special Water Repelling Product for Decking that doubles up to allow the end user to coat most Garden Structures made from Timber, this product alleviates the need to keep on coating as with the inferior existing Wood Oils etc. “unless of course you enjoy the tedious job of preparing and recoating these items on a regular basis!!”

Project: Little Miracles Location: The Spinney, Peterborough Client: BBC DIY SOS & Little Miracles Created in 1972, The Spinney, a centre in which the Local Community Association could run a play scheme, was founded by Peterborough Development Corporation and the City Council. The building was threatened with closure on numerous occasions but the local community.
However, faith was not lost and local residents, Little Miracles and the Scouts Association decided to create a new management community with the aim to save The Spinney. The community’s hopes were lifted by the BBC show DIY SOS and amazingly the project was accepted to be involved in a programme with aim of engaging with businesses to build a brand new centre. The project was constructed by hundreds of volunteers from around the UK including decorators, electricians, carpenters, joiners, landscapers, builders, plasterers, plumbers and engineers. The teams challenge was to knock down and rebuild the centre, relying entirely on the use of donated materials.
Environmental Coatings was one of the companies proud to offer services and products F.O.C and donated all Labour, Material and Transport costs that was needed by the scheme, for the spray finished Coloured Cladding on this special BBC Children In Need episode of ‘DIY SOS The Big Build’. The donation was used as part of a life changing transformation to the centre for disabled children in Peterborough called ‘Little Miracles’. This episode was transmitted on 13 November 2013 as part of the ‘BBC’s Children In Need’ week.
In addition to donating to the ‘Little Miracles Project’ Environmental Coatings and Remmers UK would be happy to support a similar charity project directed by DIY SOS in the future. Our staff were very proud and pleased to have supported ‘BBC Children In Need DIY SOS: ‘The Big Build’.

House-builders St James Homes decided to transform a former sewage works in south-west London into a New England-style community; they spent a week in the American state studying the finer details of the weather boarded houses it is famous for.
When it came to the decision of which Rainscreen Cladding was to be used, the specifiers chose to use Fibre Cement Weatherboard due to its longevity of maintenance, its Flame Retardant Properties and choice of colours that were endless.
The rain screen cladding fixed to the homes on the first phase at New England Place are coated in a wide range of colours including blues, whites, greens and reds, but all have been protected with the Pure Acrylic Waterborne Coating manufactured in Germany. Ray Wright of Environmental Coatings, a distributor of Remmers Joinery Coatings products throughout the UK, said: “The Fibre Cement Weatherboardand a Pure Acrylic Waterborne Coating was comprehensively Weather tested for 5 months prior to its specification and taking into consideration the Acrylic Coatings superb characteristics of adhesion, long lasting performance and colour fastness, achieved the standards expected and more.”
